Al Autosport with JDC working to Retain Gidley forRemaining IMSA Prototype Challenge Rounds

SAVAGE, MN (April 7, 2022) – Following a dominant, podium-earning debut at Daytona International Speedway Al Autosport with JDC is working to secure Memo Gidley full time, alongside Alexander Korieba in the No. 23 Duqueine D08.

The JDC Motorsports-backed group kicked off its first IMSA Prototype Challenge weekend on a high note after Memo Gidley earned the pole position for the three-hour event. The Californian the spent the entirety of his first stint holding off a fierce pack in slippery conditions, before passing the reins to Koreiba to close out the race in third place.

"After our performance with Memo and Alexander in Daytona, I don’t want to disrupt something good and would love to see what they can continue to do during the 2022 season" said AL Autosport Principal, Alex Damalas. “Memo has already become such an integral part of the team. We all get along great and both Alexander and I have learned a lot from him.”

The season opening weekend served as Gidley’s first race back in IMSA prototype competition since 2014 and as expected, he didn’t miss a beat. Since then, the 2022 season has Gidley earn many other opportunities behind the wheel, including a go during last month’s official FIA World Endurance Championship test.

“One of the positives to having such a prolonged gap in the season, is that we have time to work on securing partners in an effort to make this happen”, Damalas continued. “That’s our priority at this stage.”

Next up for the No. 23, Duqueine D08 is IMSA Prototype Challenge Round Two at Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course, May 13-15. For ticket sales and schedule, details visit https://www.imsa.com/events/2022-mid-ohio-sportscar-challenge/.
